A cloth nappy should last at least 2 hours and should not be left on for longer than 3 hours during the day. Why use reusable cloth nappies instead of disposable nappies? Because: Cloth made from natural fibres such as cotton, hemp or bamboo are breathable and free from chemicals found in disposables, i.e. healthier for your baby’s skin, leading to fewer rashes, skin irritations and tears It’s reusable, i.e. more cost-effective than disposables in the long run (do the maths how many disposable nappies a baby needs in total, compared to a few full-time reusable nappies in total) Because it’s reusable and biodegradable, it is more environmentally friendly (a disposable nappy takes 450 years to break down… do the maths on how many disposable nappies are trashed for a single baby… that’s a lot of single-use trash that literally takes centuries to decompose! A cloth nappy takes 6 months to decompose in a hot compost pile at home) Because Mini Matters cloth nappies are durable, popular and highly prized, it also has great resell value on the second-hand market for mums looking to save. Directions for use: See product images for more clarity. On the bum, as a Snap-In-One nappy (daytime): Always adjust the front rise snaps before attaching/stuffing the inserts Fold you insert and snap it into your Omnia shell Optional: add boosters and/or liner, if desired Position the insert/s correctly in the centre of the nappy Tuck the front end of the insert under the tummy flap to keep it in place Put the prepared Omnia nappy on baby, adjusting the velcro snaps to fit your baby’s body size Once the nappy has been put on baby, make sure the elastics are tucked into the panty line Run your fingers along the leg elastics. None of the inside lining should stick out. Elastics should be snug with no leg gaps The cover can be wiped between uses and only the insert is changed every 2-3 hours or when needed The cover is suitable for daytime use, and should be replaced with another cover after up to three insert changes When it’s time to change the cover, remove the insert, wipe down the cover if necessary and put it with the laundry stash On the bum, as a pocket nappy (daytime): Always adjust the front rise snaps before attaching/stuffing the inserts If using a Mini Matters trifold, fold your insert and snap it into your Omnia shell Stuff the insert into the pocket opening at the back, ensuring it is straight and well positioned Optional: add a disposable or washable liner on top. The pocket lining is made from a moisture wicking fabric that will keep baby’s bum feeling dry, so no additional stay-dry liner is needed. Put the prepared Omnia nappy on baby, adjusting the velcro snaps to fit your baby’s body size Once the nappy has been put on baby, make sure the elastics are tucked into the panty line Run your fingers along the leg elastics. None of the inside lining should stick out. Elastics should be snug with no leg gaps The cover is suitable for daytime use, and the entire assembly should be replaced with another nappy after 2-3 hours When it’s time to change the nappy, remove the insert, wipe down the cover if necessary and put it with the laundry stash Note: Recommended for daytime use. Washing: Wash covers with your other cloth diapers in a normal machine cycle. Do not wash at temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, do not tumble dry. The use of bleach and other chemicals can damage the PU layer. Line dry out of direct sunlight. See our Complete Nappy Laundry 101 Guide for details. Bum cream: Cloth nappies are much healthier than disposables and will lead to fewer nappy rashes; however, it can still occur. Avoid using conventional bum creams, barrier creams or petroleum jellies. The artificial and non-biodegradable chemicals affect the absorbency of your nappy and can cause build-up on the fibres, reducing the nappy’s efficiency. Instead, use coconut oil (that is naturally anti-bacterial), or a cloth friendly product like Simply Bee Baby Bum Balm, if you feel the need to use something.
