It combines an adjustable abduction pillow with breathable padded straps to help protect healing tissues after injury or surgery. Why Use The VELPEAU Shoulder Abduction Sling? Unlike a standard immobilizer sling that holds the arm tightly against the body, an abduction sling positions the arm slightly away from the torso. This sling allows positioning at approximately 15° or 30° of abduction. This position may help reduce strain on repaired rotator cuff tendons, decrease pressure in the subacromial space, and support healthy blood flow to healing tissues. Abduction slings are commonly used after rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilisation surgery, joint replacement, fractures, and other shoulder conditions that require protected healing.
